Technical Support Engineer III

8/2011 – Present (DukeNet Communications \ Time Warner Cable), Charlotte, NC

·         Responsible for monitoring, reporting and resolving issues related to network services including Enterprise, Ethernet, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) and Transport. Also responsible for Tier 2 support for a 24 X7 Network Operations Center that is responsible for surveillance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of network systems. Performed on-call duties along with providing 2^nd Level Escalation support to the NOC staff. Work with Transport Engineers to validate new system’s commissioning and documentation, and also supported Circuit Designers in turn-up of new circuits and Facilities. Submit MOPs in support of scheduled maintenance and work with field technicians and equipment vendors to resolve broke / fix and also firmware upgrades.  Supported network systems including DWDM and CWDM. Provide training for new NOC technicians, Deployment Engineer, & Circuit Designers. Managed special assigned projects such as manufactures firmware upgrades and deployment of new technologies. Supported vendor specific equipment such as: Cisco MSTP, Cisco ASR9000 & 7500 switches, Fujitsu Flashwave systems, Overture NIDs, Telco System T-Marc, JDSU, Cyan, Lucent Dacs, Adtran MX2800, Cienna Core Director, and Nortel Classic and 3500 systems. Circuit Designer 2011 – 2013 DukeNet Communications

·         Responsible for evaluating a variety of equipment and facilities options to determine best possible routes for circuit order on DukeNet infrastructure.  Worked with Network Operations, Order Delivery and Deployment Engineers to design facilities and ensure that equipment is deployed in timely manner and meet customer expectations. Coordinate with customers and other telecom providers to meet Firm Order Commitment (FOC). Delivered diverse circuit routing to ensure that the customer received alternate routes to reduce possible failure points within the network. Also responsible for in service upgrades and reroutes.

Switch Technician

·         Responsible for conducting expert wireless network equipment installation and maintenance; Test, locate, and repair complex equipment problems; Handle configuration and fault management for a range of platforms including voicemail (IN), HLR (Home Location Register), VLR (Visitor Location Register), BSC (Base Station Controller), SMSC (Short Message Service Center), and IWF (Inter Working Function); Perform database backups and conduct maintenance of computer hardware and software; Work with telecom vendors to meet schedules for new equipment installation. Use various systems to track critical dates to ensure circuit activation and trouble tickets are close out within establish time lines and Project Managed several in house new builds and field collocations expansions. Responsible for field as-built engineering designs, & engineering of circuits and fan-out facilities. Also supported switching capacity relief routing. Spearheaded the ATT type 2 to type 2 optimization team in reengineering mis-routed facilities that resulted in savings of over 5 million dollars in the Southeast.
